Accessibility Policy
We are committed to making our websites accessible to all, and have a responsibility to ensure an equal opportunity environment for studying or participating in the educational programs, benefits and services of The Hebrew Language School International and other partner schools. Our commitment to digital accessibility is based not only on principles of equity and inclusion, but also on the recognition that accessible digital resources generally enhance usability for all. Therefore, our school administrators, faculty and staff are responsible for putting this policy into practice.
Nondiscrimination policy.
We do not discriminate against users, students or potential customers on the basis of religious ideology, beliefs, ethnicity or race, disability, age, marital status, pregnancy (maternity), gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, or other applicable legally protected status. All of our school staff members and associates are expected to work on the development, acquisition, preparation, and maintenance of the school’s websites, digital resources, services, and platforms. This includes incorporating accessibility into their development roadmap, planning for compliance during the planning, design and proposal stages of the project, we expect our vendors’ services to meet digital accessibility standards.
Alternative access.
For the purposes of this policy, ‘alternative access’ means an alternative format or medium adapted to an individual’s disability that provides timely access to the same content and accurately conveys it in the original format or medium; it means a medium or other resource. To provide equally effective alternative access, our school and its partners are not required to ensure that people with disabilities achieve the same results or levels of performance as people without disabilities; rather, our duty is to provide for people with disabilities. Appropriate aids and services should be provided where necessary. They have the opportunity to achieve the same or similar outcomes, benefits or levels of education in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs.
Disability-related information is provided on a voluntary and confidential basis. If this information is available, it will apparently be used to attempt to alleviate the effects of circumstances that restrict the ability of qualified disabled students to participate. Determination of accommodations is made through an interactive process following a case-by-case review of all supporting documentation. The mere presentation of a diagnosis may not be sufficient to support accommodations or meet the criteria for a disabling condition. All accommodations must be logically related to the student’s functional limitations in light of clinical studies.
IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY
In order to develop or provide new technology and digital content for our school, suppliers must acknowledge this policy and their contracts must require them to be as accountable as possible to the standards. Our school staff and partners who make these purchases or acquisitions are responsible for ensuring that suppliers comply with these requirements. The policy expects the school to use its position of market power to prioritise and promote digital accessibility. The policy recognises that we have no control over suppliers and we strongly recommend that third party digital content providers provide content that is easy to use and accessible to all.
IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY..
The School of Hebrew Language International and other partner schools expect our members, faculties and departments of study to designate digital accessibility liaisons, assign responsibility for ensuring accessibility provided within their jurisdictions and foster widespread awareness of this Policy for our students, non-registered customers or visitors to our websites. We are dedicated to always improving our customers’ experiences and digital accessibility.
